The Gilcrease Orchard
Orchard · Las Vegas · Nevada
Sixty acres of you-pick orchard in northwest Las Vegas, run since 1997 by the non-profit Gilcrease Orchard Foundation on land the Gilcrease brothers farmed from the 1970s. Ted called it his "pick and pay" orchard; fall brings apples, a pumpkin patch, corn maze and wagon rides.

Virginia City
Historic townColor nearby peaks October 12
Virginia City grew up almost overnight on the Comstock Lode silver strike of 1859 and still keeps its wooden boardwalks, saloons, and mine shafts open above the old diggings. Fall thins out the summer motorcycle traffic on C Street, so there is more room to duck into the Fourth Ward School museum or ride the short line down to Gold Hill.
