Privacy

Autumn Guide has no accounts, no logins, and nothing to sign into. Every page is a static file. The short version is that the site measures traffic, remembers one thing in your browser to make the map open somewhere useful, and keeps what you type into a form so it can be replied to.

Analytics

Three measurement tools run on the site. Google Analytics 4 records page views and a handful of interactions (which region you opened, that sort of thing) and sets cookies to do it; Google's own privacy policy covers what happens to that data. Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights count visits and measure page load speed without cookies and without following anyone between sites. None of it is used to build a profile, and none of it is sold.

Browser-level do-not-track and content blockers are respected by default, in the sense that the scripts simply do not load and the site works the same.

What the map stores in your browser

The tracker saves one key, ag:last-loc, in your browser's local storage. It holds a rough latitude and longitude plus a timestamp, so the map can open near where you last looked instead of resetting to the whole continent. It never leaves your device, nothing on the server reads it, and it is ignored after 30 days. Clearing your site data removes it.

Forms

The contact form and the business listing form post what you type to Web3Forms, which relays the message to the site inbox and does not run a database of submissions for us. What you send is used to answer you and, for a listing, to publish the venue details you asked to have published. Your email address is not added to any list because you wrote in.

Peak alerts

If you subscribe to peak alerts, your email address is stored by our email provider and used to send those alerts and nothing else. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the address from the list.

Links off the site

Region pages, city guides, and venue listings link out to parks, orchards, tourism boards, and ticketing sites. Those are other people's websites with their own privacy practices. The map tiles come from OpenFreeMap, which serves them to your browser directly.

The forecast data itself

Foliage dates published here are derived from ERA5 weather data supplied by Open-Meteo under CC BY 4.0, and the forecast that comes out the other side is offered under the same licence: use it, republish it, build on it, with credit to Autumn Guide. Questions, or a request to delete something

Write to hello@autumnguide.com. If you have sent a message or subscribed and want it deleted, say so and it will be deleted. If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
