Boulder City was built from scratch in 1931 to house the workers who raised Hoover Dam, and it remains one of only two towns in Nevada with no casinos. The Boulder Dam Hotel sits at the heart of a walkable historic downtown that now houses a small museum on the dam's construction, twenty-some miles from the Las Vegas Strip.

The Washoe Club has stood on C Street since Virginia City's silver-boom days, and it now runs daily ghost tours through the saloon and upstairs club rooms where Comstock-era miners once gambled.
