Boulder City was built from scratch in 1931 to house the workers who raised Hoover Dam, and it remains one of only two towns in Nevada with no casinos. The Boulder Dam Hotel sits at the heart of a walkable historic downtown that now houses a small museum on the dam's construction, twenty-some miles from the Las Vegas Strip.
