When do the leaves change in Slovakia?

A glacial lake at 1,346 meters, the second-largest on the Slovak side of the High Tatras, ringed by beech and oak that turn gold and maroon while larch higher up the slopes goes bright yellow. A level lakeside promenade gives an easy view of the peaks without the climb.

A lake dammed by an ancient landslide in the volcanic Vihorlat Mountains, sitting at 618 meters and ringed by beech forest that runs almost unbroken toward the nearby Kyjovský prales reserve, part of the UNESCO-listed primeval beech forests of the Carpathians.
