An artificial reservoir at 1,200m ringed by pine and beech slopes inside Mavrovo National Park, North Macedonia's largest protected area. Mount Korab, the country's highest peak at 2,764m, rises beyond the far shore, and low fall water levels sometimes expose a submerged church steeple near the dam.

An Orthodox monastery founded in 1020 on a cliff above the Radika River gorge inside Mavrovo National Park, rebuilt after an 1863 fire and known for a wooden iconostasis carved between 1829 and 1835. The five-minute approach walk from the gate climbs through pine forest that colors through October.

The Galičica Ridge traverse, about six hours end to end, is the rare spot where both lakes are visible at once, Ohrid's deep teal against Prespa's green.
