The largest contiguous estate in the Netherlands, a royal hunting ground since the 17th century, spreading northwest from Apeldoorn into the forestry units of Hoog Soeren, Uddel, and Gortel. Eight marked routes of 2 to 13 kilometers cross oak and beech woods below Het Loo Palace.
