The largest of Durmitor National Park's eighteen glacial lakes, formed of two basins that merge into one sheet of water when autumn rain raises the level. A flat 3.6km trail circles the shore through black pine forest, three kilometers from Žabljak, with Meded peak's cliffs reflected on calm mornings.

A 365-meter concrete arch bridge completed in 1940, spanning the Tara River Canyon 172 meters above the water and, at the time, the largest vehicular concrete arch in Europe. The canyon it crosses is the deepest in Europe, its pine-forested walls turning gold and rust through the fall.
