When do the leaves change in Bosnia & Herzegovina?

A strict nature reserve inside Sutjeska National Park protecting one of Europe's last two unlogged forests, with beech, fir, and spruce past 300 years old and trunks over a meter thick. Entry requires a licensed park guide, and by mid-October the canopy over the Perućica gorge turns gold.

A 2,067m limestone massif above Sarajevo, its bare alpine plateau ringed by a beech forest belt that colors through October below the men's downhill course from the 1984 Winter Olympics. Stone shepherd huts, still used each summer, dot the upper pastures below the ridge.

The Una River drops 24.5 meters over a fan of travertine tiers near Bihać, the tallest of several cascades inside Una National Park. A boardwalk trail threads riverside forest to viewing platforms at the base and rim, with the current running full after autumn rain.
