Hahndorf
Historic town · Adelaide Hills

Australia's oldest surviving German settlement, founded in 1839, its Main Street planted with cork elm, oak and chestnut in 1885 on the advice of Adelaide Botanic Garden director Richard Schomburgk, chosen to blaze red each fall. A block of 54 Autumn Blaze maples at the town's edge honors the settlement's founding families.
