Białowieża National Park
National park · Poland

Europe's last sizable fragment of primeval lowland forest, with oaks over 500 years old and a herd of European bison free-ranging through hornbeam and lime. The strict reserve can only be entered with a guide; the bison rutting season and the forest's reddest color both fall around the end of October.
